Episode Thirty-Three – Who is in your Flop XI?

In a week where a number of secret agent players were behind enemy lines, pulling strings for their former clubs, the team are back to sabotage the world of football.

At A Team of John O’Sheas we’re no strangers to crushing failure. So who better to discuss some of football’s most disappointing transfers: we ask “Which players are in your Flop XI?”

Before that the Team will be discussing a number of talking points. Since none of these are on Marouane Fellaini I thought I’d just take a moment of reflection on his hilarious 100th appearance for Manchester United. Definitely an unfortunate return.

Will Geeson is back this week and as is custom he’s torn between the head and the heart. He asks if the glory of a potential Champion’s League win would be worth trading for relegation to the Championship.

Unlike Leicester, Leeds, the thinking man’s football grandpa Jon Mackenzie’s beloved club, find themselves at the right end of the table. He’s also pondering the value of the Premier League, and wonders if it would live up to expectations in the event that they are promoted this season.

Normally I spend Mondays in a ditch off the M1 sleeping off a Bourbon fuelled weekend, but here I am catching some all together different Zs. Zinedine Zidane has confounded all expectations and his Real Madrid team, reigning European Champions, sit six points clear of their closest La Liga rivals. Is the success he’s found as a manager simply down to luck and a ludicrously expensive and perfectly complete squad, or is quiet man Zizou actually a revelation in a world of huge personalities?

Ceylon, our token non-football fan has stepped into Patrick’s shoes today for organised fun. She may not be Irish but at least she’s ginger.

All this and more besides, on this week’s edition of A Team of John O’Sheas.
